Mr. Marcus Verner currently serves as the Director of the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Oklahoma Export Assistance Center.

In this capacity, Mr. Verner is responsible for the implementation of the U.S Department of Commerce-International Trade Administration-Global Markets/Commercial Service’s export assistance programs and services, which are designed to expand international trade awareness and increase the number of U.S. exporting firms, particularly by small and medium-sized businesses.

Mr. Verner has responsibility of providing guidance and assistance to businesses involved in, or seeking involvement in, export of goods & services to foreign countries, applying an understanding of economics (exchange rate, duties, tariffs, and non-tariff barriers), and export finance), business (role of goods involved in partners economies, competitiveness of U.S. products, foreign market potentials), and geo-political considerations impacting movement of goods and services internationally (embargoes, and sanctions). Mr. Verner is also the Executive Secretary for the Oklahoma District Export Council which support the mission of US&FCS by facilitating the development of an effective local export assistance network, supporting the expansion of export opportunities for local U.S. companies, serving as a communication link between the business community and US&FCS, and assisting in coordinating the activities of trade assistance partners to leverage available resources. Individuals appointed to a DEC become part of a select corps of trade experts dedicated to providing international trade leadership and guidance to the local business community and assistance to the Department of Commerce on export development issues.

Mr. Verner is a native of Oklahoma and graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Oklahoma, with a BA in Business and an MBA in International Business from Oklahoma City University in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Mr. Verner is a NASBITE Certified Global Business Professional.
